This collection consists of Edward Woodbridge Avery's three diaries and their transcriptions. The diaries all describe activities during the year 1866. The first diary, dated April to June 1866, describes Avery's overland trip from Utica, New York to Fort Halleck, Wyoming Territory. Avery describes eating establishments, transportation such as ferry boats, trains and horseback and the day-to-day life of officers on a journey.
