Biographical / Historical

Beatrice “Bea” A. Scott (1922-2015) was an active member of the National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc. (NACWC), the Colorado State Association of Colored Women’s Clubs (CSACWC), the Denver Federation of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc. (DFCWC), the Dorcas Service and Literary Club, the Northwest Region Association of the National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc., Pond-Lily Art Literary and Service Club, the Knights of Peter Claver, and Ladies Auxiliary. She was the recipient of many service awards, including the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary Certificate of Merit, the Claver Lady of the Year award, and the NCPCA Outstanding Service to the Community plaque. The NAACP Youth Council Outstanding Service to the Cause of Youth plaque was awarded to both Bea and her husband, James C. Scott in 1963.
