George J. Shumway was born on March 8, 1920 in Duchesne, Utah. He joined the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Lewis, Wash. in 1942 and participated in both the Kiska invasion and the Italian Campaign. He served with the 87th Infantry Battalion, Company A, and attained the rank of Sergeant. Shumway died on October 31, 2006 in Fullerton, Calif. The collection is photographs taken during World War II.
