The collection contains a family album of studio portraits, most show early Colorado residents from the towns of Irwin, Elko, Boulder, Gunnison, Gothic, Crested Butte, Aspen, and Denver.

Biographical / Historical
Joseph H. Block Jr. (February 9, 1867-September 4, 1950) and Augusta Hauck Block (February 9, 1872-November 6, 1967) were married in Longmont, Colorado on June 19, 1895. They lived in Crested Butte until moving to Denver in early 1910s. Joseph was a banker and county commissioner in Crested Butte. Augusta was a member of several historical societies, such as the Territorial Daughters of Colorado, the Colorado State Historical Society, and the West Denver Auraria Historical Society. She served as president of the Pioneer Women of Colorado. She wrote about the Block and Hauck family histories and their migration to Colorado in 1859. They had two daughters, Ernestine Block Grigsby (1896-1985) and Josephine Block Miles (1899-1996).
