Biographical / Historical

Lucius Fuller raised in Nelson, Ohio. Graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Lucius worked for power companies in Montana, Utah, Canada and Idaho. Married Merce Berkley (1883-1981). Daughter Marian born on March 23, 1916. . Marian worked for Mountain Bell. Died in 1983.

Marian Isabel Fuller was born on March 23, 1916 in Utah. Her parents were Lucius B. Fuller and Merce Fuller. Marian Fuller grew up in Salt Lake City, UT and attended Rowland Hall – St. Mark’s School. In 1942, she began working for the Mountain Bell Phone Company in Budget Dept. Mountain Bell transferred her to Denver. After her father’s death, Marian’s mother, Merce, joined her in Denver and Marian cared for Merce until Merce died on 12/21/1981 at age 98. In 1982, Marian retired from Mountain Bell after over 40 years of employment. She became ill in 1983 and died on Aug 9 1983. In her will, Marian Fuller assigned her attorney, J. Robert Welch, as executor of her estate. Marian Fuller never married or had children. She willed an equal disbursement of her estate to the Salvation Army, Denver Dumb Friends League, Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s School, and Denver Art Museum.

The materials in Box 1 are based on an preliminary inventory. Materials in Box 2 contain the Marian Fuller Papers (formerly WH814), which were added to this collection. The Marion Fuller Papers were processed and have a finding aid. The Marion Fuller papers were organined into three series: financial, estate and personal. The bulk of the financial series (1908-1985) contains personal financial papers, which begins with stock certificates and land exchanges of Marian Fuller’s two grandfathers. Marian Fuller’s stock certificates follow. Remaining materials include her income tax returns, banking information and medical expenses. The estate series (1977-1987) consists of appraisals, Marian Fuller’s will and death certificate and disbursements of the estate. The personal series is a folder containing the correspondence and legal papers of Marian Fuller's mother, Merce. It also includes personal correspondence from J. Robert Welch to Fuller's family and friends after her death.
