Bill Milne Papers
Scope and Contents
An extensive inventory, created by John Duffy, president of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division, is included with the Bill Milne papers. The collection includes: photographs, postcards (includes Pisa, Florence, Castel d'Aiano, Riva del Garda, Torbole, Tampello, Cave del Predil, Trieste, Venice and Grossglockner, Austria); citations (includes commendations from General Lucien Truscott, Field Marshall Alexander, General Mark Clark and General George Hays); religious service bulletins; German language papers; newspaper clippings, articles; signal manual; insignia, shoulder patches; Mission Accomplished booklet, and Karte von Italien German map.

Biographical / Historical
Born in Michigan. Enlisted in the Army on November 19, 1941 at Fort Custer, Michigan. Prior to enlistment, he had completed four years of high school and was employed as an autoworker. Assigned to the 10th Mountain Division as a replacement soldier after the Division had deployed to Italy. Attained the rank of corporal, and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for actions near Amore, Italy on April 16, 1945.
