Biographical / Historical

Lawrence Anthony "Larry" Manzanares was born Dec. 29, 1956 in Colo. Springs, Colo. He graduated from Arapahoe High School, Littleton, Colo. (1975) before attending the University of Denver (BA; 1979). Manzanares attended Harvard Law School (JD; 1982) and returned to Denver where he worked in the areas of commercial litigation, general contract, business and banking litigation with the law firms of Davis, Graham & Stubbs (1982-1987); Roath & Brega, P.C. (1987-1989); Brega & Winters, P.C. (1989-1991). In 1991, he was appointed a judge of the Denver County Court and was later appointed as a judge to the Denver District Court in 1998. In January 2007, Mayor John Hickenlooper appointed Manzanares Denver City Attorney. He was also an adjunct professor of law at DU Law School; involved with LARASA and other community based organizations; and a licensed pilot. Manzanares died in Denver, Colo. on June 22, 2007.
