Biographical / Historical

Born in South Carolina in 1917. Completed four years of high school and was married at the time of his enlistment in the Army on April 19, 1944 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Swift, Texas after the Division had completed its training at Camp Hale, Colorado. Assigned to the 87th Infantry Regiment and served in the 3rd Battalion Headquarters Company and in Company M. Served during combat operations in Italy from January through May, 1945.
