Biographical / Historical

Andrew Hastings was born in N.H. in 1924 and enlisted in the Army in 1943 at Ft. Devens, Mass. At the time of his enlistment he had completed four years of high school, was a bookkeeping machine operator and unmarried. He joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. and was assigned to Company I, then Company D of the 86th Infantry Regiment. He also served in Companies G, C and E of the 85th Infantry Regiment. Hastings was transferred to Camp Swift, Tex. before going to Italy, where he was wounded in action in April 1945 at Serre D'Aiano. He attained the rank of Corporal and died in 1998.
