Scope and Contents
The collection contains black and white photographs and negatives from Camp Swift, Tex. Individuals identified include: Harris Haffner, Arthur May, Milton Lagerquest and Arthur Emmer (1944); copy of Haffner's 2014 memoir: A Brief Narrative of the Military Experiences of Harris I. Haffner while serving in B Battery of the 604th Field Artillery Battalion of the 10th Mountain Division in World War II (1943-1946), 3 CD-Roms with scans of pages from John Litchfield 2007 Commemorative Book.

Biographical / Historical
Harris I. Haffner was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1925 and enlisted in the Army at New Cumberland, Pennsylvania in 1943. At the time of enlistment he was unmarried and had completed four years of high school. Haffner joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colorado and was assigned to Battery B of the 604th Field Artillery Battalion. He was also stationed at Camp Swift, Texas before being deployed to Italy where he engaged in combat against German forces. Haffner attained the rank of Technician Grade 5.
