Biographical / Historical

Benjamin Eleden Weschler was born in the District of Columbia in 1922. He joined the 10th Mountain Division while it was engaged in mountain and winter warfare training at Camp Hale, Colorado. Weschler was initially assigned to the 87th Infantry Regiment, Company B, and then to the 10th Mountain Division, Headquarters Company. He later transferred to Camp Swift. Weschler was engaged in combat operations against the German Army in Italy in the Apennine Mountains and the Po River from January to May 1945 and returned to Camp Carson, Colorado following combat. Weschler attained the rank of Technician Grade 3, and received the Bronze Star for his service. He died in Florida in 1993.
