Scope and Contents
The collection contains 44 color and 61 black and white photographic prints depicting members of the 87th Infantry Regiment, Company I (87-I) of the 10th Mountain Division of the United States Army during combat operations in Italy in April 1945. Written descriptions are provided on the back of many of the photographs. Soldiers in the 87-I identified in the photos include: Robert "Bob" F. Diehl, Russell "Russ" M. McJury, Adrian I. Riordan, Alexander Jones, Charles F. Barnwell, Maurice S. Ewing, Robert P. Stewart, Alexander J. Beauchesne, Barton Morrison, Ted Merritt, Edward E. Van Romer and Erling Omland (Company K).

Biographical / Historical
Theodore H. Miller was born in Garwood, New Jersey in 1919 and enlisted in the Army at Newark, New Jersey in 1942. At the time of enlistment he was unmarried and working as a manager. Miller joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colorado where he was assigned to Company I of the 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment. He participated in the Kiska Island, Alaska invasion in 1943 and in combat operations in Italy in 1945. Miller received the Bronze Star medal for his actions near Pietra Colora, Italy in March 1945. He died in 1997.
