Biographical / Historical

Stanley E. Howe was born in 1925 in Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Army March 10, 1944, at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. At the time of his enlistment he had completed four years of high school, worked as a mechanic or repairman and was single, without dependents. He joined the 10th Mountain Division in Italy and was assigned to Headquarters of the 87th Infantry Regiment. He engaged in combat operations against German forces in Italy, and attained the rank of Private First Class.
