Biographical / Historical

Felix F. Church was born on March 7, 1923 in Jefferson County, Washington and enlisted in the Army on September 16, 1940 at Port Angeles, Washington. At the time of enlistment he was unmarried, had completed four years of high school, and working as a newsboy. He joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colorado and was assigned to Company C of the 87th Infantry Regiment. Church also served at Fort Swift, Texas before being sent to Italy. He awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his actions at Mt. della Spe on April 14, 1945 and was wounded in action the same day at Torre Iussi. Church attained the rank of Private First Class. He died on November 8, 1990 in Kitsap, Washington.
