Biographical / Historical

Once the second largest coal producer in Colo. Organized in 1894. Incorporated under the laws of Wyo. in 1910 as the Rocky Mountain Fuel Company of Wyoming, the company operated major lignite fields in Boulder and Weld (Colo.) counties and bituminous fields in Fremont, Garfield, Gunnison, Huerfano, Las Animas and Routt counties (Colo.). Initiated a collective agreement with the United Mine Workers of America in 1930. Financial difficulties led to company reorganization in 1945.

Boxes 1-25 contain numbered papers in folders which are keyed to an extensive card index. This index is basically grouped by type of material (authorates, bonds, leases, etc.) A 24 card key to the basic mumbering system is filed at the beginning of the card file.
