Biographical / Historical

Daniel J. Muffoletto was born April 12, 1925 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Samuel and Phillie Muffoletto. He entered military service February 16, 1944 and received his basic training at Camp Blanding, Florida. Muffoletto joined the 10th Mountain Division as a replacement soldier in Italy and was assigned to the 87th Infantry Regimental headquarters, where he served as a jeep driver. He was discharged November 30, 1945. During combat operations, Muffoletto received the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement during the crossing of the Po River. Muffoletto married Dorothy Rawlings April 12, 1947. He worked for 46 years as a body shop manager for Chrysler dealers, retiring in 1987. As of February 2013, Muffoletto and his wife of 65 years still reside in Forest Hill, Maryland.
