Biographical / Historical

Eric C. Wilson was born August 13, 1916 in Rockford, Illinois. He completed four years of high school prior to enlisting in the Army. During World War II, Wilson served with the 85th Infantry Division’s Company C, part of the 10th Mountain Division. He was stationed at Camp Hale, Colorado, Camp Swift, Texas and in Italy. Following the war, he was stationed briefly at Camp Carson, Colorado. Wilson was awarded two Bronze Star Medals during the 10th Mountain Division’s Italian Campaign. The first was for his actions at Mount Gorgolesco on February 22, 1945 and the second at Mount San Michele on April 19, 1945. In his later life, he was also known as Eric C. Willson. He died on May 17, 1998 in Rockford, Ill.
