Biographical / Historical

George Dale Firman was born June 10, 1924 probably in Santa Ana, California. He joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colorado, where he was assigned to Company K of the 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment. Firman participated in training at Fort Ord, California for the invasion of Kiska Island. He was part of the invasion force that landed on the Island August 15, 1943. During combat in Italy, Firman received the Bronze Star Medal for his actions near Cimon della Piella between March 1-27, 1945. Firman died October 19, 2005.
