Biographical / Historical

Howard T. Vaille was born February 26, 1861 in Springfield, Massachusetts. His mother was Sarah Vaille of Meredith, New Hampshire. His father was Dr. Henry R. Vaille of Springfield, Massachusetts. In 1889, Vaille married Martha Kerr Elder (of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) in Las Vegas, New Mexico. They had two daughters.

Howard T. Vaille was the brother of Frederick O. Vaille, founder of the Colorado Telephone Company in Denver in 1879. Howard Vaille moved to Denver in 1882 to work for his brother. They were pioneers of the telephone industry in Colorado and New Mexico. In 1883, Howard Vaille was manager of the Central City Telephone Company. From 1883 until 1884, he was manager of the Pueblo Telephone Company. He compiled information on the early days of the telephone company in the Rocky Mountain region, retiring in 1930.

Howard Vaille died of a heart attack on May 15, 1940 at his home at 1415 Franklin St., Denver, Colorado.
