Biographical / Historical

H. Robert "Bob" Krear was born in Pa. in 1922 and enlisted in the Army on October 12, 1942 at Chambersburg, Pa. At the time of his enlistment he was unmarried, had completed four years of high school and was a member of the Penn State College ski team. Krear volunteered for the 10th Mountain Division in June 1943 and arrived at Camp Hale, Colo. shortly thereafter. He was assigned to Company L of the 86th Infantry Regiment. Krear also served at Camp Swift, Tex. before being sent to Italy. He received a Bronze Star medal for his actions during the Apennines and Po River campaigns in Spring 1945.
