Collection contains 16 scrapbooks with clippings, some correspondence, invitations, political pamphlets, sample ballots. Scrapbooks sometimes topically arranged and cover a variety of subjects: history, politics, Henry George and the single tax, Irish relations, local elections, anecdotes and verse for use in speeches.

Biographical / Historical

John B. McGauran was a Denver, Colo. political figure. B. 1872 Dubuque County, Iowa; arrived Denver ca. 1880; d. Aug. 11, 1944 Denver. Active in local politics, president of city council (1912-1913), U.S. surveyor-general for Colorado (1914-1921). Prominent orator and Catholic layman.
