Scope and Contents

Campbell discusses his childhood, joining the 10th Mountain Division and about his service with the Division at home and abroad. Talks at length about Camp Hale, about training troops for winter survival at Camp McCoy (Wisconsin) and about the first National Military Ski Championships at Tennessee Pass. Campbell also discusses his military career.

Biographical / Historical

Born June 3, 1922 in Leavenworth, Washington. Joined the 10th Mountain Division in 1941. Saw action in Kiska as a member of the 87th Infantry. Helped deactivate the 10th Mountain Division in Europe. Held several advisory jobs at the Pentagon. Retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 33 years of service. Known as "Buster".
