Biographical / Historical

Upshure Berkley "Berk" Ellis was born in Pa. on July 14, 1924 and enlisted in the Army at Charlottesville, Va. on November 6, 1942. At the time of his enlistment, he was unmarried, and had completed two years of high school. Ellis joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to Company l of the 86th Infantry Regiment. He transferred out of the Division prior to its deployment to Italy. Ellis died on July 28, 2011 in Pottsville, Pa.
