Biographical / Historical

Abraham Schwartz (aka Abner J. Swartz) was born in R.I. in 1924 and enlisted in the Army on April 12, 1942 at Providence, R.I. At the time of his enlistment he was unmarried, had completed four years of high school and working in the automobile industry. Schwartz joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he served with Companies A, B, and the Service Company of the 86th Mountain Infantry Regiment. He also trained at Camp Swift, Tex. and participated during combat operations in Italy.
