Biographical / Historical

Levi Fitterer was born in Pennsylvania November 24, 1925 the son of Levi and Florence Fitterer. He enlisted in the Army November 23, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was called to active duty December 13. Fitterer received his basic training at Camp Wolters, Texas. He volunteered for transfer to the ski troops and joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colorado where he was assigned to the Headquarters Company of the 86th Regiment. During World War II, his responsibilities included laying communications lines.
