Biographical / Historical

Ernest Chester Plotecher was born on July 16, 1917 in Loretto, Mich. At the time of his enlistment he was unmarried, had completed two years of college at the Alverno College of Music and working as a Manager of Guest Relations at the Pabst Brewing Company in Milwaukee, Wis. He joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to Company C of the 85th Infantry Regiment. Plotecher also served at Camp Swift, Tex. and in Italy. He earned a Bronze Star Medal and was wounded at Mt. San Michele on April 19, 1945. Plotecher attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He died on January 3, 2014 in Brookfield, WIs.
