Biographical / Historical

Robert Tangarone was born on December 6, 1917 in Hartford, Conn. and enlisted in the Army on June 2, 1941 at Hartford, Conn. At the time of his enlistment he was unmarried, had completed four years of high school and working as a lithographer. Tangarone served at a number of different Army bases in the United States before being sent to North Africa. In 1945 he joined the 10th Mountain Division in Italy as a replacement soldier with the 604th Field Artillery Battalion. Tangarone attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. He died in Hartford, Conn. on June 14, 2012.
