Biographical / Historical

Raymond Francis Farley was born on November 27, 1924 in N.J. and enlisted in the Army on July 1, 1943 at Neward, N.J. At the time of his enlistment he was unmarried and had completed three years of high school. Farley joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to Company A of the 90th Infantry Regiment, but later served with Company I of the 86th Infantry Regiment and Company C of the 87th Infantry Regiment. He also served at Camp Swift, Tex. and Italy. During combat operations near Gaggio Montano, Farley received the Bronze Star medal for his actions on February 19, 1945.
