Biographical / Historical
Waldo Earle Sweet was born on April 26, 1912 in Manchester, Conn. and enlisted in the Army on February 4, 1943 at Boston, Mass. At the time of his enlistment he was unmarried and had received a PhD from Princeton University. Sweet joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to Company I of the 86th Infantry Regiment, later with the 10th Mountain Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop. On November 6, 1943, he married his wife, Betty in Salida, Colo. Sweet died in Ann Arbor, Mich. on September 25, 1992.
