Biographical / Historical

Robert L. Gess was born on August 4, 1924 in Enlisted in the Army on February 15, 1943 at Spokane, Wash. Gess joined the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Lewis, Wash. and later served at Camp Hale, Colo.; Camp Swift, Tex. and in Italy. Initially assigned to the 86th Infantry Regiment, Company D and later transferred to the 85th Infantry Regiment, Company L. Gess was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his actions at Pra Del Bianco on March 24, 1945. He died on March 20, 2005 in Chelan, Wash.
