Biographical / Historical

William Joseph "Bill" Craine was born August 7, 1923 in Monongahela, Pa. and enlisted in the Army on January 20, 1943 at Columbus, Ohio. At the time of his enlistment he was unmarried, had complete four years of high school and working as a retail manager. Craige served with the 10th Mountain Division as a member of the 605th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery B stationed at Camp Hale, Colo.; Camp Swift, Tex.; Camp Carson, Colo. and in Italy. During his combat experience, Craine was awarded the Bronze Star Medal at Vidiciatico, Italy on February 15, 1945. He died on August 30, 2012 in Sun City, Ariz.
