Biographical / Historical

Professional photographer born in Watertown, N.Y. on August 21, 1917. After developing an interest in photography as a teenager, during WWII Worthen worked as a photographer with the Army Air Corps stationed at Lowry Air Base, Denver, Colo. After the war he worked as commercial photographer specializing in medical and photomicrography, as well as photo finishing and the design and repair of photographic and electronic equipment. Worthen also worked as a fine art photographer specializing in nature and historic buildings and began exhibiting his work in 1972. He died in Denver, Colo. on March 13, 2012.
