Biographical / Historical

John Benson was born on May 14, 1920 in Albany, N.Y. He was a graduate of Bowdoin College (1943). Joined the Army of January 2, 1943 at Hartford, Conn. Later with the 10th Mountain Division where he served with Company C of the 86th Infantry Regiment. He was Stationed at Camp Carson, Colo.; Camp Hale, Colo.; and at Camp Swift, Tex. Benson received a Bronze Star Medal for his actions on March 5, 1945 at Sassomolare. After the war, worked in manufacturing. Retired as a CEO in 1985.
