Biographical / Historical

Sylvania of the Rockies Summer Camp was located nine miles outside of Bailey, Colorado in Jefferson County. Established in the 1940s, the summer camp was exclusively for girls. It provided programs specializing in music; drama; dance; rifle shooting; badminton; swimming; archery; tennis; hiking; horseback riding; and arts and crafts. The camp closed in 1974 and was sold to Outdoor Lab. The Sylvania ranch and buildings were then renamed Windy Peak Outdoor Laboratory School.
