Biographical / Historical
Judy Montero was born in Corpus Christi, Tex., on September 3, 1952 and moved with her family to Denver, Colo. in 1954. Montero graduated from North High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Adams State College and a master's degree in social work from the University of Denver. In the late 1980s, she served as council aide to Councilwoman Deborah Ortega. In 1997 Mayor Wellington Webb appointed Montero to the position of Public Information Officer for Denver Department of Parks and Recreation. In 2003 she was elected to the Denver City Council representing Denver's District 9. Montero is also a Mayoral appointee for the Denver Union Station Project Authority and was the 2013 City Council Chair of the National Western Stockshow Committee and Co-Chair of the Land-Use, Transportation, Infrastructure committee. She is active in many other organizations dedicated to community service.
