Biographical / Historical

Leo Paul Hanf was born October 30, 1923 in Rochester, Minn., the son of Franklin Leo and Lillian Maria (Butler) Hanf. During World War II, Hanf served with the 10th Mountain Division where he was initially assigned to Company I of the 90th Infantry Regiment and later transferred to Company E of the 85th Infantry Regiment. Hanf was stationed at Camp Hale, Colo.; Camp Swift, Tex. and saw combat with the Division in Italy. Leo Hanf died on August 11, 2011 in Minneapolis, Minn. at age 87.
