Biographical / Historical

Mary Beth Susman grew up in various towns across the United States during the time her father was in the U.S. Army. She moved to Denver in 1969. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Denver, and spent her early career in higher education where she developed online education programs. She retired from the Colorado Community College system as Vice President before running for City Council. Susman served as Denver City Councilwoman from 2011-2019 in District 5. From July 2012 to July 2014, she served as the council president. Susman lost in the general runoff election on June 4, 2019.
