Biographical / Historical

Robert Donald Hansen was born on December 5, 1917 to William Martinus Hansen (1869-1918) and Mary Helen (Montgomery). He registered for the draft on October 16, 1940, but was not was called up for active service until November 24, 1942. At that time, Hansen was working for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. He first trained at Camp Cooke, California and later joined the 10th Mountain Divison at Camp Hale, Colorado. Hansen served with the 86th Infantry Regiment, Company B, and attained the rank of Technician 5th Grade. He died in Denver, Colo. on July 21, 2009.
