Phil Hamon Papers
Scope and Contents
The bulk of the collection includes Philip Hamon's extensive music collection including concert/event fliers, posters, collages, drumsticks, photographs, cymbals, VHS tapes, and his music collection (CDs, cassette tapes). The materials cover the local and national music scene. There is material related to his work with People First in Denver and the disability rights community, as well as some personal photographs and correspondence.

Biographical / Historical
Philip Charles Hamon III (aka "Phil the Fan") was born in Denver on August 11, 1951 to parents Philip and Geraldine. He had one sibling, Debra. Phil worked at the 15th Street Tavern (623 15th Street) doing a light show during concerts, events and private parties. He also worked at the University of Denver. He was born with a developmental disability and was active in People First of Denver as the newsletter editor. Known as an icon in the Denver music scene for three decades, Phil was an avid collector of music. As an artist he created 3D pieces and collages. He passed away on June 26, 2011 in Denver, Colorado.
