Biographical / Historical

Alfred Hoyle Lowdermilk (known as Hoyle) was born June 25, 1900 in Randolph County, North Carolina. to parents William Wesley Lowdermilk (1866-1933) and Margaret Belle Ingram (1870-1946). The couple had 16 children, 14 of whom grew to adulthood. The family moved West in 1900 to become farmers in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas, but later moved to Colorado in 1918. Hoyle with his brother, William Elbert Lowdermilk (1897-1988) established the Lowdermilk Brothers Construction Company around 1930 which operated until the 1970s. Hoyle Lowdermilk died on June 6, 1984.
