Collection includes correspondence to and from Louise Smith Farrell concerning gold and silver mining companies in Colorado. Correspndence and telegrams are in regards to Farrell's inquiries about mining productivity and business developments, and her authorizations for local voting proxies in her absence from shareholder meetings.

Biographical / Historical
Louise Smith Farrell and her sisters inherited stock in various gold and silver mines in Colorado from their uncle, Sylvester Tunnicliff Smith, who was a partner with David H. Moffat in many mining interests in Colorado. Louise Smith Farrell of Lawrence and Kansas City, Missouri and Mr. Joseph A. Farrell of California received mining stockholder distributions, correspondence and financial statements from executors of various mines between 1911 and 1937. Farrell owned stock in various Colorado mines including the Amethyst (Teller County), Commodore, Bachelor, Maid of Erin (Leadville), New York and Chance, Volunteer, and Golden Crown Mining and Leasing Companies.
