Biographical / Historical

Donald Albert Petersen was born on April 21, 1919 in Burlington, N. D. Following high school graduation he worked as a supervisor for Boeing aircraft in Seattle, Wash. where he married Sherry Wynne and had two sons: Rand Donald and Russell Lynn. Petersen was drafted to the United States Army on June 23, 1944, shortly after the birth of his second son. He joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Swift, Texas, and went on with the Division to fight in Italy. Petersen was a Private First Class in the 87th Infantry Regiment, Company I. Petersen passed away in 1987.
