Scope and Contents
Booklet of newspaper clippings; Brief History of the Northern Coal Field; essay on dry farming by Sharp. Scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings: obituaries, Colorado/Denver people and events, coal mining, poems, general interest stories, politics/politicians, World War I, pictures of Colorado places; programs, invitations, b/w photographs, postcards. Scrapbook 12 includes b/w photos of flood and aftermath in Pueblo in 1921; scrapbooks are also on microfilm.

Biographical / Historical
Pioneer Colorado merchant. B. Oct. 11, 1854 Atwater, Ohio. Moved to Colorado 1873 during Leadville boom days. Lived in Creede, Cripple Creek, Pueblo (where he was mayor), and Denver (where he owned Sharp Music Company, 1900-1925). Board member of Colorado State Agricultural College, 1896-1906. Active in Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute. D. Mar. 5, 1937 Denver.
