Scope and Contents

Collection contains two scrapbooks with newspaper clippings about boating events, mostly regatta and speed boat races, at Sloan's Lake in Denver, Colo. (1940-1960). The scrapbooks were created by Fred and Maxine Curtis, with additional attribution to Jessica Garramone, Denver Parks and Recreation, Adaptive Recreation.

Biographical / Historical

Mile High Boat Association was founded on September 7, 1939. The aim of the organization was to promote safety, pleasure and good fellowship among Denver's boating populace and also to promote boating in all its different forms. The organization held annual regattas on Sloan's Lake and Cooper Lake. The two lakes are both located within Sloan's Lake Park on the west side of Denver, Colo.
