Kenton Forrest Photograph Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection contains color slides dating from 1949 to 1979 that primarily document Denver streetcars, buses, and trains, as well as buildings located in the Denver's downtown, Auraria, and Highlands neighborhoods. Images of the Royal Gorge, Cheesman Dam, Victor, and Cripple Creek are also present. The collection has been arranged by date and includes a partial item-level inventory for the photographer's numbered index.

Biographical / Historical
Kenton Forrest was born in Florida in 1944 to Marjorie and Harvey Forrest. The family moved to Denver in 1952. Forrest graduated from Alameda High School in 1962 and later earned a degree from the University of Northern Colorado.
Forrest taught science classes at Dunston Middle School in Lakewood for 30 years. Upon retirement, he took on a volunteer curatorial role at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden and authored and co-authored several books on Colorado history, trains, and trolleys. Kenton Forrest died in 2018.
