Biographical / Historical

William I. Neder was born on June 10, 1924 to Irving Homer and Esther (Look) Neder, in Los Angeles, California. He registered for the United States Army draft on June 10, 1942 and was called to action on October 15, 1942. Neder joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colorado in 1943. As a member of Company E, 85th Infantry Regiment, he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Neder saw combat with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy where he participated in the Appennine Mountains and Po Valley campaigns. On December 27, 1945, Neder married Peggy Lou Sills, who he met at a dance in 1944. The couple had five children. William Neder passed away on November 22, 1999.
