Content includes correspondence from Schenck to family members while at Camp Hale, Colorado; Camp Swift, Texas; and Italy. Also includes illustrations done by Schenck throughout, as well as collected souvenir postcards, newspaper clippings, photographs, Army documents, and other memorabilia. Schenck organized the collection contents chronologically into scrapbooks; this order has been preserved.

Content Description

This collection contains materials from Charles W. Thweatt detailed his experiences and responsibilities in the 10th Mountain Division of the United States Army during World War II. Content includes military records, photographic prints, correspondence, and newspaper clippings collected during the war and later on in his life.

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of typewritten memoir transcribed by Harold Van Dusen’s wife, Mary Ellen Van Dusen, entitled, “Harold Van Dusen – War Memoirs,” undated, circa 1999 (46 pages).

Content Description Collection includes original documents from Gilronan’s time in the United States Army, as well as photocopies of original documents, correspondence, photographs, magazine articles, newspaper clippings, newsletters, event rosters, and event booklets. Items from 10th Mountain Division reunion events feature prominently in the collection. The collection consists mainly of photographs taken by Leszko, but also includes slides, diary pages, separation papers, and newsletters. The photographs have been kept in the original subject groupings arranged by Leszko.
